Message from the VAJVRS President:

My name is Brandon Propst, VAJVRS President. I am writing this to inform you about some of the opportunities of joining the Virginia Association of Junior Volunteer Rescue Squads. One of the opportunities includes meeting your peers from all over the state. Making connections with other members from across the state can be beneficial. Second, you as a junior member can hold a leadership office just as I am. Holding a leadership position, you will learn more about the association; meet members, plan events, and most importantly become a leader for your peers. The VAJVRS also holds junior BLS competitions at the state level.

I joined as a junior member with my hometown rescue squad in 2016. The following summer, I got to experience the annual VAVRS Convention. At the convention, I learned a lot. I got to meet people from all of the state. These people were leaders, nurses, doctors, people on advisory boards, and etc. The training events are fantastic. The junior meetings are set-up to teach junior members the ropes for the VAVRS meetings. Not only did I get to have fun with members of my rescue squad, but I got to have fun with other family/friends from the state. Since then I have been the Historian, Vice-President, and now the President for the Junior Association. I have learned how to conduct a meeting, the financial aspect of a non-profit, being a part of committees and helping make decisions, and meeting with and connecting with peers to come together to brainstorm for the future juniors.
